PS Bigirimana Vows to Deal with ECCMIS Detractors
(L-R): Mr. Kikabi (Project Manager - ECCMIS), Mr. Bigirimana (Permanent Secretary/Secretary to the Judiciary) and Ms. Rweju (Technical Advisor - NITAU)
The Permanent Secretary/Secretary to Judiciary, Mr Pius Bigirimana, has vowed to cause the arrest of any individual who tries to fail the upcoming Electronic Court Case Management Information System (ECCMIS).
He issued this warning while closing a five-day training for systems administrators on ECCMIS at the Judicial Training Institute in Nakawa, also with a reminder to the technical staff of the Judiciary that the system's success or failure would largely depend on them.
The PS/SJ commended the Principal Information Technology Officer, Mr David Sunday Kikabi, for being a dedicated manager of the program. "If Mr Kikabi can introduce all of you byname and station, it shows how committed and comfortable he is working with you as a strong team," he said.
Mr Bigirimana noted that the use of ICT in the Judiciary is the modern way of conducting court business and, as such, should be embraced. "IT ought to be adopted if we are to cope with the new global world," adding that technology training will be a permanent feature in the Judiciary.
The PS/SJ said he believes in the electronic way of conducting business, and he ensured that the five-year contract with Synergy was signed. "In filling electronically, we shall avoid the tendency of human contact and petty corruption..."
The ECCMIS Technical Advisor, Ms Julian Rweju, applauded the PS/SJ as the project champion for his invaluable support in ensuring that the Judiciary has an electronic court processes system in place.
